Vintage Universal Geneve travel table clock with alarm.  Circa 1980’s.  Champagne Universal Geneve dial with painted black Roman numerals.  Luminescent hour marker dots and hands.  Dial marked with an 8, indicating an eight day power reserve.  Black and brown bezel.  Made in France.  Mechanical manual wind movement.  Approximate dimensions are 3 in x 2 3/4 in x 3/4 in.

Has superficial scratches due to normal usage and age.  The hour hand has some lume absent in the center.  The back has a small area where the coating is flaking.  Overall condition of the clock is good.  Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy nor water resistance/proofness.  An overhaul is always recommended for used clocks.

Universal Geneve SA was originally founded as Universal Watch in 1894.  They made the Universal Geneve Aero Compax chronograph in 1936 which was used by the military during training exercises and combat operations during World War II.  Around the same time period, they collaborated with Hermes on Pour Hermes chronograph watches.  In the 1950’s, Gerald Genta helped them design the Universal Geneve Polerouter, the Universal Geneve Golden Shadow, and the Universal Geneve White Shadow.  Other notable models include the Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, Universal Geneve Compur, Universal Geneve Triple Calendar, Universal Geneve Jump Hour, Universal Geneve Curvex, Universal Geneve Uni-Compax, Universal Geneve Monodatic, and many more.
